[My Writing]

I am not published, maybe I will be one day, maybe not. Won't stop me writing either way. I've written a novel called Trinity. It has vampires in. It's not a vampire novel. It's not a horror novel either. It's just about the lives of 3 people, 2 of whom happen to be vampires, 1 of whom is a vampire hunter. There's also a homosexual love thing going on in it (nothing explicit, don't panic, unless you want explicit gay sex scenes in which case, sorry, sex scenes just make me laugh, I can't take them seriously so I don't put explicit stuff in).

Had 1 rejection for Trinity so far. *shrugs* Nothing unexpected there.

Am now simulataneously working on the sequel and the second sequel, working titles Broken and Ice & Fire. Don't ask me why I'm writing everything together. I just am and then I figure out where to split it up later.

Also, my other project is "Alpha/Omega". It is what I describe as a dystopian-paranoiac industrial-horror cyberpunk-vampire novel. Or something. Basically, it's my experiment into writing a completely unplanned novel and just seeing where it goes. It's ended up as a kind of second cousin maybe to my "main" vampire novels, which some of the same characters in (not the main character however). I was listening to Puppy Gristle one day and I thought "Hmm, so if they can come up with something like this without any planning, what could I come up with if I just spewed something out without any planning, improvising everything and not really altering it much along the way?" That's not a direct transcript of my thoughts of course. But something similar. The main character is named Genesis because of the whole Puppy Gristle thing (Puppy Gristle is an improvised noise jam done by Skinny Puppy and Genesis P Orridge of Throbbing Gristle, for those not in the know). I have totally improvised it. Some of it's been radically experimental for me, involving cutting up bits of text, scattering them around, making new passages out of the fragments, all of that kind of stuff. It does indeed have a plot, characters and a sense of direction now. So what's it about? I ain't telling... ;-)

It's much gorier than my other vampire stuff however. Apparently I have a gift for writing about blood and bodies, according to the person who assessed my creative writing coursework and who got to read the intro to Alpha/Omega.

I'm also doing a little experiment with it in writing in the first person. You see, it's written in both the first and third person. But from the same perspective (that is, Gen's). It makes sense, I promise. Gen is psychic, you see... That's all I'm saying...

Other stuff:

Trick Horse - a story I wrote years ago and am now - on and off - in the process of reworking in an attempt to write something a little more mainstream which might possibly get me noticed by publishers. Unlikely, but I guess it has more luck than a novel about a bisexual junkie vampire anyway. It's kind of a twisted love story about a girl, a guy and a horse. It's not *that* kind of love though between the girl and the horse, don't be disgusting. It's kind of subtle fantasy insomuch as the horse may be a ghost. Or he may not be. And he tends to have drastic effects on those he comes into contact with, not always positive ones. In fact he's kind of a curse.

A few bits and pieces, some short stories, some random incomplete pieces I don't know what to do with but may develop into something one day:

"Stairs & Flowers" (a small piece of something I might one day continue)

"Change" (a fairly old complete short story)

"Low Tide" (a fairly old complete short story)

"Hansel & Grettel" (a complete short story based on the original fairy tale)
